Follically Challenged Productions Presents:
ERIC: It's funny how stuff morphs from script to page; David took the initial description of The Messenger and just ran with this incredibly creepy, Giger-esque...thing. I love the porcelain mask. BRANDON: The Messenger scares the crap out of me. There is something about porcelain faces that has always freaked me, and I’m more unsettled by a blank expression than any monstrous appearance you could conjure up. ERIC: So I should send back the porcelain death masks I got you for your birthday. You big baby. BRANDON: Hey, don’t make fun. I was attacked by a pair of 70s home décor comedy / tragedy masks when I was 14. It was horrific. They came right off the wall and went straight for my soul. Luckily, I was carrying a ball-peen hammer in my pants, and…wait, what are we talking about? ERIC: The look on Amanda's face in Panel 5? Priceless. BRANDON: David does things with his art that I don’t always notice at first glance -- subtle details in backgrounds or expressions that might look almost funny, until you really start to SEE them for what they are and realize that they’re real. That “what the hell?” look is one that I’m sure I’ve had on my face many, many times. Usually when observing the mechanics of the comic industry. |
